We've all bought a new jumper this winter, yet most men know little about sweaters and even fewer take full advantage of all the styles and patterns available.  We will give you a basic understanding of sweater fits, and styles and hope to expose you to options you might not have considered so you can dress in a way reflects your individuality.

Cashmere Sweaters – The gold standard of sweaters, a pure cashmere sweater can cost hundreds of pounds due to its costly production process and scarcity. Cashmere comes from the soft undercoat of goats bred to produce the wool. It takes more than two goats to make a single two-ply sweater. At Messina Hembry you can find a vintage designer cashmere sweater and a fraction of the price, in near perfect condition. Simple solids colours are the most formal, with patterns, whether woven in or stitched, making the garment more casual. Pair with some jeans and some boots and you're ready to go.

Wool Sweaters – This is the oldest and most commonly used sweater fabric. Vintage wool is the traditional favorite when it comes to style and function. Wool knitted clothing was historically the clothing of working class in rural England; today however it's proven ability to retain heat whilst looking great, makes it a favorite of men around the world.

Cotton Sweaters – Jumpers and sweaters made from cotton fabric are going to be cooler than Cashmere or Wool Sweaters. This isn’t a bad thing – sometimes you want a cooler sweater... designer made cotton is usually very breathable and keeps its shape very well. Above all is cost, cotton is decidedly less expensive and easier to source than Cashmere or Wool.
