Gant
In the 60’s GANT was the second largest shirt maker in the world. Having become popular in the 1960’s with male students, GANT set the style for men: front of the shirt buttoned along a double-truck hem – and also created three major style features that the GANT shirts became renowned for; hanger loop, cross-stitched buttons and a rectangle label on the shirt stitched so the outline could be seen from the back.
Set up in New Haven, USA, 1949 the American heritage brand now creates clothing for men, women, children and babies as well as footwear and underwear. In 1980/1981, the company started to distribute GANT products on the international market.
GANT uses different lines for different products; G.N.H, RUGGED Sportswear, GANT by ‘Michael Bastian’ and the ‘Yale co-op’ line – alongside many others including time and fragrance.
