Spring is officially here! Through the sporadic mist of grey clouds we can definitely see some sunshine and did we actually get to leave the house without an umbrella last week? Yes we did!

Spring is a fantastic time of year for fashion - it gives us so many opportunities to dress to impress and to put your creativity to good use. Spring allows us to create several outfits in one just through layers, show off your best assets rather than covering them in big jumpers and to finally release your black garments from duty as they hand the baton over to pastels and florals.

Spring and summer fashion trends are bright bold and beautiful. Surprisingly, there’s a shift away from the athleisure boom with a gentler, more traditional style taking its place. However, something that’s not changing but in fact evolving is the 1980s theme - vibrant, fun and effortlessly cool with nipped waists, strong shoulders and long legs.

Whilst we’ve been big fans of leggings and tracksuit bottoms for the past few years, for those of you with a more old fashioned soul, are going to love the spring trends. Bringing with it a host of more traditional styles with a modern twist, we are absolutely loving the designs dominating this year’s catwalks and want to help you build these looks with designer vintage clothing.

The Pencil Skirt
The pencil skirt is making a comeback - only being longer lined and more flattering. They’re coming in to replace the more full-skirted midi skirts and Net-a-Porter’s prediction is that this silhouette is going to be a massive seller for spring and summer 2018.

We have a selection of stylish pencil skirts that are updated regularly so make sure you keep checking in here on our vintage women’s skirts range. Pair these pencil skirts with a casual t-shirt, body suit or blouse depending on the occasion - you can also rock them with heels, flats or trainers!

Big Shoulders
Whether it’s a retaliation to this year’s hugely popular bardot look or just a toned down comeback of the 80s style, big shoulders and big sleeves are in for spring. Whether it’s the form of a blouse, shirt or jacket, counterbalance the shoulders with a miniskirt or tight jeans to really nail the look.

With regular updates of our shirt and jacket selections, we have some fantastic statement shoulder items coming through our doors that you should be looking out for. To add a vintage flair to this look (which is super easy!), try a slightly weathered looking preloved blouse and pair it with a new leather-look or denim mini that will make you look as if you’ve been transported straight from the audience of a Duran Duran concert.

Tartans
That’s right, they’re not only for autumn and winter! Spring tartans are coming at us in full force. Perhaps it’s designers being economical and allowing us to make year-long clothing investments rather than seasonal, or maybe it’s just because tartans look so damn good - either way, we’re happy they’re here and that they’re here to stay.

One of the best things about the tartan pattern is that it can on any part of your clothing; from trousers to shirts, skirts to accessories and we have a selection of just these. Our range of tartan vintage clothing comes in many different forms - from designer shirts and skirts, to the occasional tartan trouser and coats. We always recommend pairing your tartan garment with a colour that you can find in the tartan, no matter how bright or monochrome!

Polka Dots

You’ve probably already seen the influx of polka dot themed clothes in the high street shops (as well as on the catwalks) but there is a specific rule for everyone’s favourite circles for spring… Keep them monochrome, keep them cool and make sure they’re on clothing items that are this season’s shapes to avoid looking outdated.

Much like our beloved tartans, polka dots can be found on any item of clothing and they’re still totally on trend. Our selection of vintage polka dot garments are constantly updated so be sure to check in to see how our vintage polkas can jazz up your outfit.

Vintage-look Florals

Oh yes, it even has vintage in the name which means it must be good! Although floral dresses can often conjure up images of 50s housewives, the ones that are in fashion this year are 50s housewife reimagined and liberated! Although florals for spring are hardly ground-breaking, the tea dresses hitting the rails this spring have a distinctive edge that’s already making them seriously popular.

Our selection of designer vintage dresses is one that we’re pretty proud of. Pair these beautiful dresses with converse, pumps, sandals, tights, boots, a denim jacket, leather jacket or cardigan and change up the look to your specific style. Tea dresses work great with layers, making them a must-have investment for spring.

Bright Colours

The biggest and boldest statement of spring 2018 is just that - bright and bold. From primary shades through to neon accents, this spring will see a crisp rainbow of vibrant, reds, yellows, blues and pinks that will be worn in colour blocks and monochrome styles. The rule this season is not to tone down these eye catching hues with neutral colours - the message here is to go hard or go home.

Our recommendation is find silver and gold accessories that will bring texture and a more diverse dimension to your otherwise block colour outfit.

Have fun this season experimenting with new trends coupled with designer vintage clothing for a unique and edgy look that is both enviable and impossible to imitate!
