Barbour
Barbour and Sons were originally importers of oil cloth based in Glasgow, however Duncan, grandson of founder John Barbour created motorcycling jackets and suits, which ultimately led to ‘the Barbour jacket’ – a name given to any waxed or quilted cotton jacket no matter the creator.
Founded in 1894 in South Shields, England, the Barbour brand is renowned for outerwear and ready-to-wear pieces by countryside customers and saw an increase in urban popularity in the early 2010’s.
Barbour has also gained popularity due to their entrance into the ‘waterproof-breathable’ market, offering their own waterproof liners, fleece sweaters and outdoor aimed items with drain holes, snug collars and storm cuffs.
Barbour and Sons are known not only for their quilted and waxed jackets, they are famed for their range of moleskin sweaters, corduroy clothing and tattersall shirts – items that have become synonymous with rural living within England.
The Barbour range at Messina Hembry features sweatshirts, tops and shirts as well as the famous jackets. With every item checked for quality and authenticity, you can enjoy vintage and preloved Barbour for significantly less than the original RRP. Shop the whole collection here today.
